Among the wine varieties recommended for cultivation in the Vipava region, Cabernet Sauvignon is the one that calls for the most sunshine and the highest average temperatures in order to achieve full phenolic ripeness of the grapes. At the Batič farm, Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on seven sites. However, Batič Angel Cabernet Sauvignon only comes from two vineyards: Vogrsko Mali Dunaj and, most frequently, Loke Koladovca. Loke is a village situated in the warmest part of the Vipava wine-growing region.
The grapes from this vineyard were hand-picked on 9 October in the afternoon. Maceration followed until fermentation was complete. Biological crushing took place in 225 litre barrels. This was followed by a 25-month maturation period in a selection of 50% new and 50% used 225L oak barrels. Angel CS 2020 was bottled at the end of December 2022 without filtration.
