Bjana
“Bjana“ is the name for the village Biljana in the local dialect. Bjana wines are produced and matured on a family estate in the heart of the Goriška Brda winegrowing district, which lies on the pre-Alpine foothills with a strong Mediterranean influence. Nature plays a leading role in their winemaking. They strive to understand its course in the vineyard and the cellar in order to make the best possible wine, one that embodies the local terroir and the full character of the varieties it is made from. Wines mature in the fully restored Château Dorišče, home to one of the oldest cellars far and wide. The château was built by the counts of Gorizia in the 13th century, when it bore the name Wyglan. The château is now in the possession of Miran Sirk and his family. Along with the surrounding estate, it was purchased by his great-grandfather Franc Obljubek following World War I.
