Chile

Chile is a long, narrow country with natural borders on all four sides – it is geographically and climatically dominated by the Andes in the east, the Pacific Ocean in the west, the Atacama Desert in the north and Antarctica in the south. Due to its elongated shape in the north-south direction, it has very different climatic zones. The northern regions are hot and dry, whereas the southern regions are cold and wet.

Chile is a superpower of the southern hemisphere, considered by experts to be the cleanest and most pristine wine country in the world. The main reason for this is the fact that Chile has not yet had an epidemic of the phylloxera louse, which nearly destroyed European viticulture a century ago. This is why the vines there are original, without the American rootstocks that the vines elsewhere in the world must be grafted on. Due to the rich conditions, the nature there is unspoiled, and the soil is ideal for vineyards.
